Since the end of August, we’ve been back and it’s full steam ahead! Business trips have also gotten a place on the agenda. The first two weeks in October I’ll be in America visiting donors. Shortly afterwards, in early November, I’ll spend time in India doing field visits with two project partners. Yes, and there’s so much more to do! We are so grateful that God has provided the energy we need so that we can make beautiful Kingdom projects a reality together with you!

A blue school opens in Ethiopia with a huge celebration!
In March 2023, we started the new Interlakes School building project. The stakes were high right from start because it needed to be ready to start school in September of 2024. Everyone did a great job and it paid off! The school opened at the beginning of September with a huge celebration. The children were allowed to choose the building’s color and it’s now a beautiful blue school building. We want to deeply thank all our donors for their generous support. The donations always came exactly on time and in God's time which funded 8 classrooms with workspaces which were exactly according to plan and budget! Currently, 500 children benefit from the high-quality education, and this will grow to 700 with the new building! Even more important is that all these children hear the Gospel daily through their Christian teachers. That’s what makes this investment truly valuable! Creating ripples of hope!

Desert Life is sharing the Gospel in closed Muslim countries!
This NEW project focuses its efforts on supporting small-scale (sometimes underground) churches that, slowly, but surely, expand like oil in water. It’s MissionInvest’s prayer that God blesses this project richly in creating a ripple effect that will have a long-term impact to further expand God’s Kingdom in the Arab world! That requires true wisdom, but we see God opening doors! To achieve this goal, the Desert Life project sends out fieldworkers (also known as tentmakers) to live as Christians in Word and deed in countries where no open church is allowed to exist. Going about their daily business and in personal contacts, they share the Gospel. In this way, they support the small, sometimes underground, churches that exist in almost every closed Muslim country.
In Arab countries where an above-ground church does exist, our workers seek to work together with the various local churches. In this project, fieldworkers live in 5 different countries including Jordan, Egypt, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. God is opening doors in these countries, as well! Amazing! At the same time, this is exceptionally difficult work which requires each worker to have tremendous tact and wisdom. Please pray for this project and help with generous financial support. Did you know that 600,000 people die from malaria every single year? Close to 70% of these are children under the age of 5! That’s 420,000 babies and small children every year for decades now! All in all, there have been millions of victims who have lost the fight against malaria. Preventative resources such as mosquito nets and sprays along with medicine could have prevented these tragic losses! Since 2019, MissionInvest and Landcent Europe, a Christian-led organization, have been working together towards a world free of Malaria. We are looking for one or more strategic donors to match funding of $250,000 per year in the next 4 years. Based upon statistics, every $250,000 will have lasting impact on 1 million people in Africa! Honestly, I’ve never seen a project like this with such an enormous social impact! MissionInvest USA is pleased to partner with the NCF, a highly respected organization that has all the in-house expertise that’s needed. NCF says it themselves the best: "We believe that God has called us to come alongside non-profit leaders with the charitable expertise they need to engage major donors in a vibrant non-cash giving program that produces significant results".
Gouda cheese and a divine appointment
A “divine appointment” wasn’t a term I’d ever heard of before but, in Texas, I learned exactly what it means! It’s an out of the ordinary and exceptional meeting that could only be arranged by God! During the middle of April, I was in Lubbock, a small town in the middle of Texas. The appointment was scheduled for 2 pm, but because I had another appointment 3 hours away that afternoon, we decided to move it to 11 am. A visit with friends was on the agenda while in Lubbock. They own a large company and work hard to serve the Kingdom of God worldwide. Two years ago, however, he developed a serious illness and last December, my dear friend passed away. This time, I visited her now as a widow and it was a very meaningful time. We shared the sorrow, but what really left an impression on me was her incredible testimony. “God is so near, Wim.” We prayed together. It meant so much how she prayed for MissionInvest USA, and that God would bring the right contacts our way.
It was about 1:30pm, and we were sitting outside on the restaurant’s terrace. Other guests arrived at a nearby table to have lunch. We reluctantly decided that I had to get on the road, and I gave her a small present, a devotional and some Gouda cheese. I made a comment about it being Gouda cheese, and the guest next to us suddenly started talking to me in Dutch! “Hey, I’m hearing you talk about Gouda cheese. You must be from the Netherlands!” I was perplexed for a moment because, of course, you don’t expect someone to start talking to you in Dutch at a restaurant in a little town in the middle of Texas! We had such a wonderful conversation, and it couldn't have been more Dutch! He was with his wife, daughter and grandchild. I asked if he was on vacation. “No, not at all, we've lived here for 40 years just an hour's drive outside Lubbock. We’re from Friesland but I have a farm here with 12,000 cows.” It was unbelievable to me that he would have 12,000 cows. I had never heard of anything like that, but, apparently, that's possible in Texas! We continued talking, and it also became apparent that he was a Christian and very interested in MissionInvest’s work and especially when I shared about the farmer projects in Kenya! I’m really looking forward to getting together with him the next time I visit Texas!
How incredible God orchestrates things when we follow Him! We had prayed for the right contacts less than half an hour earlier. Now, there was an amazing meeting that I could never have imagined. This wouldn't never happened if we had stuck to our original 2pm appointment. The Gouda cheese was the catalyst! My good friend’s widow said, “Wim, this is what we call a divine appointment!”
